1. Flash:

I consider as the personal failure that Flash has received a gold medal in this competition. Has already passed three years since that moment as I have urged developers to correct essential problems with Flash and has published a manual how it is necessary correctly to use it. When I addressed to the main conference of Flash-developers, practically all have agreed that the excessive hobby Flash should sink into oblivion and that Flash can give in the future to users convenient user interface.

At all these good intentions the most part of Flash-developments which should face web users, are simple hand-made articles which only irritate people, without bringing any advantage. Pleases only that screens-prompts and flash-pictures have practically died out. They were so harmful, what even the most unsophisticated web designers are not taken to do them though there are still customers (even more unsophisticated) which wish to see such pictures on the sites.

Flash is a software environment and it should be used so that users received additional functions and possibilities which cannot give them static pages. Flash it is not necessary to use only that on page something ran and jumped. If the content of your page is boring, copy the text to make it better, employ the professional photographer that that has made better photos. Do not force the page to dance cha-cha. It will not involve attention of the user, on the contrary – it will leave from your page; the majority of people equate animation to a useless content.

Writing for Web means:

* to write shortly

* to write so that the text was convenient for viewing

* to write precisely to a subject (instead of to fill space with advertising noise)

* use for this purpose a simple language without special terms (it also improves visibility of yours the text in searchers as users search for the documents necessary to them by the words, instead of under your specific terms)

3. Bad search

All other errors in the are list simply enough to correct, and only correction of search demands the big operation and considerable expenses on qualitative retrieval. Nevertheless, expenses pay off, as search is a fundamental component of operation of the web user with a site, and every year this component all becomes more important and more important.

I recognize: during the seminars in the spring of 2004 I have assigned to the requirement of cross-platform compatibility one star (that meant – “it is necessary to think of it but only in the event that there is superfluous time, and in general – is not mandatory”). At that time practical all used the Internet Explorer and in support of other browsers was more and more estimated as the superfluous expenditures which are not bringing profits.

Today many people use browser Firefox (and others not such widespread products, as Opera and Safari) that the requirement of support of different browsers again in the agenda: do not frighten off the clients only because they prefer to work on other platform.
